Polymyxin B for Injection IP 750,000 IU is a potent, bactericidal antibiotic used in the treatment of serious, life-threatening infections caused by multidrug-resistant Gram-negative bacteria, including Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Acinetobacter baumannii, and Klebsiella pneumoniae.

Polymyxin B belongs to the polymyxin class of antibiotics and works by disrupting the bacterial cell membrane, leading to cell death. This formulation is supplied as a lyophilized powder for intravenous or intramuscular administration after reconstitution.

Indications:

• Severe infections caused by susceptible Gram-negative bacteria

• Ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP)

• Bloodstream infections (BSI)

• Urinary tract infections (UTIs)

• Intra-abdominal infections

• Meningitis (off-label, as per physician's guidance)

• Use as part of last-resort therapy for multidrug-resistant organisms (MDROs)

Dosage & Administration:

Note: Dosage must be adjusted in patients with renal impairment.
